3rd Annual Holiday Drinking Advent-ure Calendar

We are SO excited to be doing our annual holiday drinking adventure calendar for the third year in a row. We actually launched our blog with this fun idea (happy 3 year anniversary to us!) We’ve had a few different participants over the years and we’re really excited about the gang for this year. We didn’t have the chance to pick up any beers that aren’t available in Ohio this year, but we do have a great mix.

How it Works 

• Each couple provides 4 cans or bottles of 6 different Christmas or winter themed beers (4×6=24 beers to give out).
• Each couple will split 1 beer per day for 24 days.
• We host a little party to distribute the beers and go over the process with everyone.
• Its important to come with an order than makes sense. You don’t want to drink 5 IPAs in a row then 10 heavy spiced ales. Mix up the beers!
• We then number the beers and put them in a decorated box which serves as the “calendar”.
• This year, we also gave everyone adorable, vintage Santa glasses to enjoy their beer out of.
• After everyone drinks the beer we will discuss our thoughts and feelings on the beer via text, call, email or FaceTime.
• Beard & Broad will post every day about the beer, a little background and our thoughts.
• At the end of the calendar, we will post our final reflections

Who are your holiday alter egos?
Noah & Noel! In addition to being Christmas ale aficionados, we appreciate the art of a Christmas latte from Starbucks, namely the Chestnut Praline latte. One of us also enjoys dressing like an idiot for gatherings this time of year. We’ll let you guess which one.

How many holiday beers have you consumed during your lifetime?
We have consumed approximately 707.5 during our lifetime. Beard did the math.

What makes you qualified to partake in this year’s holiday advent-ure
We’ve been drinking Christmas ales longer than you’ve been alive (kidding, but maybe not). Since we came up with this thing and made all the rules, we are experts.

Adam & Alex
Who are your holiday alter egos?
Adam: Dasher. “Dasher is the embodiment of nostalgic Christmas. He loves watching classic Christmas movies by a fire he built while humming the ‘Christmas with the Rat Pack’ and John Denver and the Muppets albums. If there’s a wooden sign with an inspiring Christmas quote, Dasher is going to buy it. He loves the smells of balsam and pine and sounds of sleigh bells and footsteps crunching in the snow.”

Alex: Holly: “Holly has an embarrassingly large nutcracker collection, but really she’s not embarrassed at all, because they are AWESOME. She loves a glamorous, sparkly Christmas, prides herself on her holiday gift shopping skills, and can survive almost entirely on Chestnut Praline Lattes.

How many holiday beers have you consumed during your lifetime?
Roughly 1.5 gazillion holiday beers.

What makes you qualified to partake in this year’s holiday advent-ure
DUH, we are a part of the OG Holiday Advent-ure Team.

Scott & Christa
Who are your holiday alter egos?
CT’s alter ego is Joy. And Scott is Berry. We love all things holiday-themed, except the snow. We fall hard for rich, toasty ales and pleasantly crisp IPAs. We’re small enough to be Santa’s elves, but don’t say that to our faces.

How many holiday beers have you consumed during your lifetime?
Somewhere between 100 and 1 million.

What makes you qualified to partake in this year’s holiday advent-ure
Berry takes everything he does very seriously, especially beer-drinking. He isn’t afraid to research, get his hands dirty, drink Joy’s portion when she isn’t looking. Joy does everything with over-the-top enthusiasm. She loves themes and beers and this combines both, so in summary: YAY!

Tony & Megan
Who are your holiday alter egos?
Tony Tinsel Toes – When in doubt, look to the dance floor. After a couple holiday beers you can usually find Tony Tinsel Toes doin a little shimmy in the corner, bustin a quick move amongst the bar stools, or gettin’ in a full blown dance off when challenged. Tony Tinsel Toes: “bustin a move so you can find your holiday groove”.
Megan “Make it Snow” Mistletoe – Picture a nice winter day, the snow is falling and you’re snuggled up next to your significant other. The candles are burnin’ as you get all warm and cozy under a blanket in front of the TV. That’s when the snow is welcoming and that’s the feeling Megan “Make it Snow” Mistletoe is all about. How many holiday beers have you consumed during your lifetime?
Alright so I (Tony) turned 21 in 2005, even if I did drink before that I couldnt afford Holiday beer (wait does Milwaukee’s Best make holiday beer? 🤔). Anyway, that means I’ve had 12 Christmas seasons and estimated 24 pack per season = 288 for me. Megan turned 21 in 07 but self-admittedly wasnt that sophisticated in college and therefore didnt start on holiday beers until 2009 so 8 holidays x 12 pack (#lightweight 😜) = 96. 288 + 96 = 384 TOTAL!

What makes you qualified to partake in this year’s holiday advent-ure
Tony: I love chugging beers sooooo…….j/k. Megan has a much more eloquent answer to this one: “Christmas is a time to share the things you love with the ones you love and we all love beer, we love each other, so lets do it!”
