Betts Restaurant
To paraphrase George Michael, the most important thing (of the things you eat) is breakfast. We like to think he’s including brunch. That’s why even though we’ve recently been hunkering down at home most of the time, we made an exception to head out to eat at the newly opened Betts.
Betts is located in the Kimpton Schofield Hotel in downtown Cleveland. This hotel looks so cozy and cool, and we’ve honestly been wanting to stay here for quite a while. It would be a great place for a little staycation, especially during the pandemic.
Betts just opened this month and their menu is “centered around classic American dishes with an emphasis on freshness, quality and whole foods.” They really focus on good food for good people. They strive to offer their customers the best hospitality while also providing a thoughtful and creative menu. The restaurant is named after Elizabeth “Betsy” Schofield, the matriarch of the Schofield family and known to her closest friends as Betts. The space is very eclectic, fun, and clean yet cozy.
Betts is going to be downtown Cleveland’s “neighborhood” restaurant. Whether you’re traveling from out of down or you’re a Cleveland resident, you’re going to feel at home at Betts. Their menu items are full of thoughtfully sourced ingredients and promote a healthy lifestyle while also letting you indulge a little bit. We all deserve that from time to time, right?
Here’s what we ordered for brunch:
- Nitty Gritty: Bloody Mary shrimp, crispy grit fries
- Heirloom, Melon & Burrata: heirloom tomatoes, grilled watermelon, pickled red onion, basil oil, balsamic reduction
- Bubbie’s Board: Norwegian smoked salmon, heirloom tomato, red onion, chopped egg, capers, whipped boursin, everything bagel
We loved everything we had. We can’t wait to go back and try other brunch items, but we’re really excited to go back for dinner sometime. Top on our list: the Cauliflower Bolognese, the variety of bowls and the Shrimp Cavatappi. Their cocktail menu looks phenomenal as well. And we hate saying this, but it’s seriously the most Instagram-able place. The decor, plating, ambiance…all awesome.
In addition to being opened for dining service, they also have a Grab & Go option (at Host Stand) for coffee, tea, cold pressed juice, food, cocktails & beer. We also felt comfortable and safe the entire time as they are adhering to all CDC considerations and protocols.
