Dining in the Greatroom at Marriott at Key Tower
When thinking about a place to get good eats in Cleveland you probably wouldn’t think about stopping in to a hotel for a snack or meal. But we are here to tell you that maybe you should rethink that. Recently we’ve had some amazing experiences in the Greatroom at the Marriott Cleveland Downtown at Key Tower.
Located in the hotel’s newly renovated main lobby, the Greatroom is the perfect spot to stop in for a cocktail, snack or meal. They offer amazing dishes and handcrafted cocktails and its truly a personal and unique dining experience. The Greatroom is open daily for breakfast, lunch and dinner. Additionally, they have happy hour specials and monthly events. You don’t have to be staying at the hotel to enjoy the perks of the Greatroom! It’s honestly a great cozy spot for after work get togethers or a pre-game for a concert or sporting event.
We’ve been able to stop into the Greatroom for drinks when hanging out downtown and for events like Wine Down Wednesday. Beard has even had events in the Greatroom for work. We’re excited to go back when it’s warm to enjoy the outdoor covered pavilion.
We were lucky enough for this event to enjoy a three course meal prepared by the new executive Chef Joseph Dubbs. He’s a born and raised Clevelander, who’s background includes working with Thomas Keller at French Laundry and Cellars of White Rock Vineyards in California. More recently, he was executive chef at the sister Marriott Airport property at AMP150. We were also lucky enough to meet Executive Sous Chef Daniel Jira. Chef Jira has been with Marriott 14 years and incorporated the different techniques and flavor profiles he’s learned in his extensive travels to promote Cleveland’s food culture.
For this event we made sure to choose different items for our meals so we could share. Broad chose the spinach salad, trilogy fitness bowl and hot chocolate cake. Beard chose the hickory glazed brussel sprouts, veal short rib, and warm salted caramel cheesecake tart. Our meals were amazing. The flavors in the trilogy bowl were robust and delicious, it didn’t just taste like you were eating something super healthy. The veal short rib just melted in your mouth. We could have eaten the brussel sprouts every day. This food is behind your typical “hotel food.”
