Drinking With the Fishes
We are always on the lookout for fun, new events in Cleveland…especially if it involves beer! When we found out that the Greater Cleveland Aquarium hosts beer tastings we knew we had to go. We were especially excited for this one because the theme was Christmas ales and ciders, and with this weather it was time for some winter flavors.
The Aquarium holds these Adult Swim events every few months and they have different themes. The event was marketed as “sip while you take a dip into learning more about aquatic life. Mix and mingle among the sharks, stingrays and sea cucumbers at a one-of-a-kind tasting event.” Their tastings involve different types of booze like wine, whiskey, local brews, etc.
For this event, we received 20 tickets to use for whatever beer or cider we wanted to try. The tasting stations are set up all throughout the aquarium, so you can sip your drink while looking at exhibits. They were spread out in such a way that you didn’t need to chug your drink before reaching the next station, you could just kind of leisurely sip & stroll. There was also food provided by Dank Diners. They kept it seasonal with a mini Thanksgiving meal which was very delicious. For the non-beer drinkers, they had buckets of soda spread around for you to grab.
This was our first time visiting the aquarium and we had such a great time. They have over 1,400 animals and 250 different species. It takes an average of about 90 minutes to explore 50 exhibits in the aquarium. You can learn about and observe tortoises, barracuda, stingrays, sharks etc. Before planning your visit, check out the daily activities schedule if you want to observe a feeding or special animal encounter.
