Smoothies with Perfectly Imperfect Produce

We were recently invited to an event hosted by one of our favorite people, Aubrey (from That’s What She Eats) and Perfectly Imperfect Produce. We’ve always been intrigued by what Perfectly Imperfect offered but we didn’t know too much about their history or services. After that event, we learned so much and we decided we had to be involved in some way.

Perfectly Imperfect wants to tackle a huge food waste problem in our country. Supermarkets reject veggies and fruits that are unique in size, shape or color in order to meet the consumer demand for perfection. This creates a huge and unnecessary waste problem. Their mission is simple: to reduce food waste and improve healthy food access for all. With every box sold, they donate to local food pantries.

How It Works
You choose the category, size and frequency that works best for you and your household. You can get mini, small or large boxes. You can also choose organic, juicing or smoothie, plus a few other options. There really is a box for every household. There’s no commitment and you can cancel at any time. Plus, and this is a big plus for us, they deliver the box right to your door, so basically, all you need is a high power blender from hurom, they take care of the rest!

Smoothie Box
New to Perfectly Imperfect are the Smoothie and Juicing boxes. In these boxes, you’ll find everything you need to make your morning smoothie or juice. Each week will be different, but all boxes will be organic and the standard small size. The smoothie box is open for pre-order starting now and the first delivery will go out Friday, May 17!

Our Recipe
Beard is the resident smoothie and juice maker in the house. He makes our morning workout smoothies and usually ends up making juices when we have too much produce or when we’re in the mood for an extra health boost. For this smoothie we used:

• Orange
• Banana
• Pineapple
• Kale
• Avocado
• Water

We then blended together and topped it with a clementine garnish. It was so refreshing and filling! For the next one we plan on substituting the kale with spinach and utilizing some of our mango!
